The sun shone yesterday as hundreds of Camden Town Brewery fans descended on cobbled Wilkin Street Mews to celebrate the launch of the long-awaited bar.

When we arrived mid-afternoon, queues snaked out the door but the atmosphere was so friendly, the rays so strong, and the facial hair so progressive it was like the first real festival of the year. (Sort of Berlin-meets-Brooklyn-meets-Hackney Wick minus the pretension, perhaps.)

And to drink? More than a little familiar with Pale Ale and Ink (a stout) from local taverns, we plumped for the new unfiltered Camden Hells USA lager, whose tasty hop-laden flavour contrasts the drier regular (and arguably more refreshing) Hells. Prices ranged from £3.50 to £4 per pint, with halves clocking in at £2. A gourmet hot dog stand was doing swift trade too.

So yes, we think the Brewery Bar will be this year’s neighbourhood hit. It has the ingredients, for sure: a genuine backstory, hidden-away location in West Kentish Town – and, most importantly, some delicious beers brewed by folk with exactly the right attitude.

Chuck in the proposed food market and Wilkin Street Mews may just become North London’s destination du jour.

It was a lovely afternoon, with great food and drink. What’s the proposed food Market all about?!
PS Love the site. Keep up the good work.

Apparently there are rumours of an ‘Eat St’ style food market (like the one in King’s Cross) to run at weekends. We approve!

Fantastic news ! We enjoyed your launch party which was fun…

The Eat St style food market located in King’s Cross is amazing, bringing life into this whole new area. We’d love to have some of the magic sprinkled across local parks in NW5 Camden.

Incidentally Camden Council are currently tendering for businesses to operate quality mobile coffee vans with further opportunities offering refreshments and tasty light bites to local people out enjoying the open air in their parks throughout the busy summer.
With the Queens Jubilee and the Olympics now on the horizon there will be numerous opportunities for many festivals in parks.

Interested, please contact Camden Council Parks Dept : –
