Gallery Watch: Leighton Space, Liminal & Guts For Garters Glass Creative Studios Art, Culture, Hidden Gem, Pinboard 34 Another week, another gallery or three. But it’s nice to see this one opening outside the West Kentish Town ghetto and in the previously artistically-untapped “Leightons” area just east of the Assembly House pub. Leighton Space , says the blurb, provides the “opportunity for professional artists to show work at all stages and in a variety of disciplines” and is intended to be “much more versatile than a conventional gallery.” Quite how, we’re not sure yet, but on the basis of the below pic it looks like an appealing white space, so much so that Mrs Kentishtowner, who fancies herself as something of an artist, is polishing her easel already. Even better, next Friday (8th April, 6-9 pm) the team invite KT readers to the private view of Astrid Baerndal’s exhibition MUTATION/INSECTS. Not one for the entomophobes amongst you perhaps; still, we’re sure they’ll stock up on booze to soothe any creepy-crawly-induced nerves. Elsewhere on Gallery Watch, and back over in the aforementioned WKT, it’s the final few days of Liminal Space at the disused dry-cleaner's on 46 Malden Road, which "celebrates the hand-crafted object" (till Apr 8); whilst, just into Camdonia is Guts For Garters, the latest pop-up whatdjamacallit at the already-vital Cob Gallery. Here’s a rather underwhelming picture of it: Oh well. Anyway: entitled ‘The Royal We’ it’s a highly rummageable shop/gallery hybrid (till apr 24) and in amongst the vintage clothing, art and quirky soft furnishings are some wonderful Royal Wedding-baiting objets. We liked this fairly pricey plate (the small text reads “Long Live Their Majesties.” Absolutely!) And whilst we’re on the subject of nuptials, we can’t sign off without a mention of the forthcoming knot-tying between NW5’s first blokey Ed, and his soon-to-be ladywife Justine. Get them a plate! On second thoughts – maybe one without the gibbons on it. Leave a Reply Cancel Reply Your email address will not be published.CommentName* Email* Website Notify me of follow-up comments by email.
